Professional Support Program

The Council is launching a new initiative, the Professional Support Program (PSP). The program's main goal is to help strengthen existing Hispanic businesses through mentoring opportunities. PSP will enable these businesses to acquire the knowledge and the information they need to sustain their companies in areas where they need additional support. Participants will receive approximately eight (8) hours of complimentary consulting time depending on their business requirements.

The professional mentoring areas currently being offered include:

  1. Administration/staffing
  2. Accounting/taxation
  3. Business planning and development
  4. Distribution
  5. Facilities/location
  6. Financial services
  7. Information technology
  8. Insurance
  9. Legal
  10. Management
  11. Marketing/sales
  12. Production
  13. Other

The Program is supported by volunteers, members of the HBC and/or Chamber members who are professionals in their respective fields. It is estimated that volunteers will spend an average of two to four (2-4) hours with a Hispanic business participating in the program.

Requirement and Application Process

The HBC is currently accepting applications from Hispanic businesses that are interested in participating in this program. To be considered, a Hispanic business must:

  1. Have been legally established and in business for at least one year, and
  2. Be a member of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce (or agree to join upon being accepted into the Program)

The application will be subject to an internal selection process and the participant will be notified upon selection. Two companies will be selected to participate in the six-month Program currently being designed for 2008. The progress of participants will be monitored, evaluated and they will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the Program.
